RALEIGH, N.C. — One of the latest waves of North Carolina National Guard members has headed out to help with flood recovery in South Carolina.

WRAL-TV reports the group of about 100 soldiers left Saturday from Rockingham. They headed to Columbia and will then go wherever they're needed.

The Guard posted photos on social media Saturday showing a convoy of tan-colored heavy trucks arriving in South Carolina.

North Carolina officials have said 545 soldiers and airmen from the Guard with more than 200 vehicles are being sent to help.

Sgt. C.J. Price tells WRAL that he left his full-time job at a bank in Asheville to report for duty at the armory in Rockingham.

Price says: "This is what we're meant to do. We're meant to help people, help our communities."
