Video: The original 'war dog' gets animated in new trailer for 'Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero'

The first teaser trailer for "Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero," a film based on a true story of a stray dog who served in World War I, went live recently, debuting the animation style, and some familiar voices, that'll be on display in theaters next April.

Written and directed by Richard Lanni, director of the World War II TV series "Road to Victory," the movie features the voices of Helena Bonham Carter ("Sweeney Todd," "Terminator: Salvation") and Gérard Depardieu ("Green Card," "Cyrano de Bergerac"), who'll lend his voice to "a battle-tested mentor to Sgt. Stubby," according to a Fun Academy news release.

The film is set to debut April 18. The World War I Centennial Commission has been involved in the project, officially endorsing the film in 2015.
