CAMP CHEF STAINLESS STEEL HIGH OUTPUT SINGLE BURNER COOKER

What: If you routinely cook or store outdoor cooking gear near salt water, where corrosion can be an issue, these new stainless steel offerings should interest you. Base dimensions of the high output (60,000 BTU) single burner are 20-by-20 inches. The 15-inch cooking diameter surface easily supports large pots. This propane-fired burner is great for boiling crabs or shrimp, or anything else requiring water sustained at boiling temperatures.

Note: Camp Chef also will be offering its popular multi-burner Explorer stove in a stainless steel edition. These units have 30,000-BTY burners.

MSRP: $139. Stainless steel Explorers may start at $179.

ZIPPO MAG STRIKE AND TINDERS

What: Zippo's new fire starter is made of ferrocerium, an alloy blended with iron oxide and magnesium oxide, which helps it produce a shower of sparks when scraped with a piece of sharp-edged steel. The starter has a textured grip, and is light and easy to pack. Available this spring.

Note: Get big fires going by starting sure-burning little ones thanks to water-resistant, easy-lighting Zippo Tinder Shreds (MSRP $4.95) made of natural pine and paraffin, or Easy Spark ($5.95) paraffin wax-coated cotton tinders. These look like miniature toilet paper rolls – the hole in the middle promotes better ignition.

MSRP: $14.95
