The Eberlestock Rapid Acquisition Shooting Rest is a non-traditional shooting support that takes the place of a bipod for precision shooting. The RASR forms a three legged support that provides one handed elevation change along a single, sloping axis. One of greatest advantages of the system is the ability to adjust elevation and windage without taking your eye off the target. One handed operation of the slider mechanism moves the rifle up and down, while the in the saddle rest is free to move around in all dimensions with much lest shifting on the part of the shooter.
The RASR comes in two versions. The first uses a big knob to lock the elevation shuttle along a smooth track, the second uses a button that releases the shuttle to move along a picatinny rail that acts as a detented slider, both shown below. Both versions do not include a bipod. You supply your own sling swivel or picatinny compatible bipod. The system does come with a set of extension rods that help positional shooting. There is also an adapter that allows the RASR to work with a tripod and another called the MOLLEPod that slips into a PALS compatible pack and connects to the rail, essentially making the pack into a bipod.
The RASR and extension costs $129, MOLLEPod, $15, and DeltaPod tripod adapter is $15. Look for more information on Eberlestock.com.
