When columnist Bob Thomas promised the next Military Muscle workout would be stability exercises for endurance athletes the model choice became a no-brainer:

Marine Corps Capt. Mosi Smith.

Smith, 30, is an instructor at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

He's also kind of a badass, finishing this year's 135-mile Badwater Ultramarathon in 37 hours, 11 minutes and eight seconds. He has several other Ironman triathlons and ultra-distance races under his belt and  more still to come this year. I've run a few ultras with him -- way behind him -- and promise that this Marine doesn't slow down.

Mosi came to our studio in Springfield, Va., on Monday morning, to demo tough core and balance exercises. He breezed through them -- literally with his eyes closed, which makes it harder to balance.

Look for this workout in the Sept. 24 issue of OFFduty, and look for more on Mosi and his ultra feats here on the blog.

Do you want to be in an upcoming issue? Here's how.
