A new review says the suicide bombing at the Kabul airport that killed U.S. troops and Afghans in August 2021 was not preventable.
"I found a spot in the clouds [where] I could see the ground, and then we basically dove," Maj. Mark Ross said of the evacuation.
Capt. Carlos Mendoza and Staff Sgt. Morgan Reed received the medals Nov. 9.
The announcement marks the largest batch of awards to date for the airmen who participated in Operation Allies Refuge.
