The grueling nine-month pipeline required to become a critical skills operator used to be shrouded in secrecy. It wasn't until recently, when officials at Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command thought it would help recruitment, that reporters at Marine Corps Times received a brief breakdown of the phases in question.

MARSOC officials are in the process of releasing more information in an effort to "demystify" the command. They found there was a lot of information available about other special operations training programs, like the Navy SEAL "Hell Week," but not much about their command.

That goal is to make sure Marines who try to become critical skills operators are prepared for the challenge.
