The bags are packed -- salt, sunscreen and a little bit of fear -- and PT365 is headed to Death Valley, Calif., for the Badwater Ultramarathon.
Badwater is a terrifying race -- 135 miles on pavement, through Death Valley's 116-degree average temperatures. The gun goes off July 16 (Monday) near Badwater, Calif. (282 feet below sea level), and the race ends 48 hours later on Mount Whitney (8,360 feet above sea level), more than halfway up the highest peak in the continental U.S.
Five military runners will toe the line this year, and we'll be there to follow along as they make relentless forward progress toward the finish line. Read more about each of them here, and follow us @PT365 on Twitter for live updates -- cell service permitting -- from the race.
Good luck, runners.
