Maybe you've got mounting debt. Maybe you've got big post-service plans, but you're not sure your savings will hold out. Maybe it's almost time to hang up that uniform, or maybe you should stick it out a few more years.

Military Times wants to help you put some of those "maybes" to rest. And along the way, we want to help your fellow service members plan their own financial futures.

In our upcoming special report, we'll connect active-duty service members with professional financial planners for a free and complete review of your financial well being. They'll tell you whether you're on the right track, or if there are some areas you need to shore up to reach your goals.

Now in its third iteration, this project has generated substantial savings for service members.  In one case, a sergeant learned he was double-paying on a home insurance policy. Dropping that unnecessary coverage saved his family $1,000 a year.

We'll report on the results of these analyses online and in our newspapers (Army Times, Air Force Times, Navy Times and Marine Corps Times) so that others in the military community can benefit from the advice. Participants must be willing to have the details of their finances made public after the review, with their names and photos included.

To be considered for this review, contact staff writer Karen Jowers at  kjowers@militarytimes.com with your name, age, rank, branch of service, marital status (single, married, engaged), number of children (if any), years of military service and current assignment station. Also, please provide a photo and tell us a bit about why you want to participate.

Karen has covered military families, quality of life and consumer issues for Military Times for more than 30 years, and is co-author of a chapter on media coverage of military families in the book "A Battle Plan for Supporting Military Families." She previously worked for newspapers in Guam, Norfolk, Jacksonville, Fla., and Athens, Ga.
