Christopher Miller’s testimony will amount to the most thorough explanation of Pentagon actions after months of criticism that it took hours for the National Guard to arrive.
The acting defense secretary ordered the implementation of 15 broad recommendations that include a plan to crack down on participation in hate groups by service members and draft proposed changes to the UCMJ.
"The Blackhawk descended low above the protesters and hovered there for approximately four minutes," the complaint states. "When the Blackhawk flew away, the Lakota relieved it, flying as low as 45 feet above the ground.”
The move follows complaints this summer that camo-clad law enforcement officers, called in to quell protests across the nation, have confused the public about the role the military is playing domestically.
