The new 300 BLK round features a 220 grain Sierra MatchKing bullet and is optimized for use with a silencer, producing just 120db at the muzzle, on average. Below is a chart SilencerCo shared comparing the new ammo to competitors using five rounds of five shot groups through a 16" Noveske Gen 3 rifle. Looking at the chart, it's clear the ammo is something special. You can make anything quiet, or fast or accurate. But combining all three with consistent velocities and sub-MOA accuracy? That's something special.

It's worth noting all of these subsubsonic cartridges produce half the velocity of their light-bulleted brothers. 300 AAC BLK Barnes VOR-TX hits 2350 fps at the muzzle. But, velocity isn't the only thing that contributes to terminal performance. Effective penetration and controlled expansion can compensate for lower velocity. Gel tests can tell the story, but I'm sure we won't have to wait long for the bacon flavored testimonials speaking to the effectiveness of the round. The new ammo will cost $29.99 for a 20 round box.
