Gerber Tactical introduces three new lights in their Cortex series at this year's SHOT Show. With a plethora of good LED lighting options these days, the Cortex series have no-slouch feature sets, but the real standout feature of each of these lights are their ability to take multiple battery options. The smallest "Cortex Compact Light" is a 3 1/2 to 4" inch long personal light running a Cree XPG with from one CR123 battery OR a single AA for up to 110 Lumens. The three setting tail switch also offers a 15 lumen low beam or a strobe. Run time should be about 2 hours on full high. MSRP $69.00
Next up is the "Cortex Light." It's 6.2" long and 4.8oz and pushes a stunning 600 lumens out from it's Cree XPG with either three CR123 batteries or Two AAs for up to 1.5 hours of runtime on high. It also provides a strobe and a 15 lumen low setting. MSRP $99.00
Finally, Gerber is setting the bar high with their first rechargeable, aptly named, the "Cortex Rechargeable Light." The same size as the Cortex Light, the Rechargeable get's it's juice from a Mini USB charging point placed high on the grip and covered by a rubber plug. Three hours on the charger should give you juice one hour at the full 600 lumens. But, if you find yourself off the grid, the it will also run off two lithium CR123s. Designed for LEOs, the Rechargeable has a secondary barrel switch to double as a 15 lumen admin light. MSRP $140.00
