According to the US Army, an explosion at an ammunition plant near Kansas City, Missouri has left one employee dead and four others injured. Army officials said in a statement that the blast at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant occurred in a building where chemicals are mixed. Officials add that the building has been secured and rendered safe, allowing investigators to begin looking into what caused the explosion. The plant is one of a dozen small-arms factories run by the Army in the US.
