Military Times (“we,” “us,” or “our”) shares your concerns about maintaining the integrity and privacy of information collected for the Best for Vets: Employers Survey. We are committed to protecting your privacy, and this privacy policy (“Policy”) is intended to describe our information collection and dissemination practices in connection with Military Times family of websites located at www.MilitaryTimes.com or any website or service that links to or refers to this Policy (collectively, the “Sites”).

Please review the entire Policy and feel free to contact us using the contact information below if you have any questions. By agreeing to participate in the Best for Vets: Employers Survey you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information in accordance with the Policy.

I. COLLECTION OF INFORMATION

We collect the following kinds of information in the Survey:

Contact information, such as you and your company’s full name, email address, mobile phone number, and zip code. This information is mandatory for you to answer in order to participate in the survey.

We also ask about Military-connected recruitment and employment practices, policies, and programs; Military-connected retention and support practices, policies, and programs; Recognition of military service; Support for attainment of civilian credentials; Current Partnerships with military-connected vendors and veteran owned businesses; Employment support for guard and reserve employees; Credit towards retirement for military service; company leadership with military experience; Inclusive workplace policies; and additional information requested about the company such as company logos and pictures that can be used in publication. This information is voluntary, and if you choose to not disclose it, you can opt to skip it and move to the next question.

Any other information you provide to us.

II. USE OF INFORMATION

We use the information we collect in the survey to:

■ Submission data will only be used to develop ranking lists and story content for publication in Military Times special Best for Vets Employers issue which includes Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times. Additionally, similar stories to those that appear in our four magazines will also appear on our websites.

■ After publication of the current year’s rankings, outside of organizational contact information, and data that is allowed to appear on publicly facing company pages on the Military Times sites, the data is not used for any other purpose.

■ To contact you about other Best for Vets Survey opportunities.

III. PUBLICATION OF INFORMATION

Military Times will only publish aggregate results from the survey. Military Times may choose to highlight individual qualitative survey answers if deemed appropriate content by Military Times editorial

staff. Questions that Military Times has identified as potential for publication are stated as such in the survey.

Military Times will only publish the following information collected from the survey :

■ Company Name

■ Company size

■ Company Headquarters location

■ Overall Rank

■ Percent of employees who are veterans

■ Qualitative information on standout retention support programs

■ Qualitative information about support for attainment of a civilian credential

■ Information regarding policies for reservists

■ Information about policies for credit toward retirement for military service

■ Qualitative information about recruitment and hiring practices for people with disabilities

■ Qualitative information about recruitment/hiring policy/program/initiative specifically for military spouses and minority veterans

■ Any additional information requested about your organization such as pictures you provide and company logo

Individual submissions will not be published in whole or in part without the consent of the respondent (or organization survey represents) without the consent of the respondent.

IV. SHARING OF INFORMATION

We are committed to maintaining your trust. We will not share or sell any information collected for the Military Times Best for Vets: Employers Survey with any third parties for any reason.

V. SECURITY

We use reasonable measures to help protect information from loss, theft, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. You should understand that no data storage system or transmission of data over the Internet or any other public network can be guaranteed to be 100 percent secure. Data is password protected and only seen and used by the research team.

VI. YOUR CHOICES

You may opt out of our email newsletters by clicking the “unsubscribe” at the bottom of each newsletter and following the subsequent instructions. You may also opt out of all communications from Military Times by contacting us using the contact information below.

You may be able to refuse or disable cookies by adjusting your web browser settings. Because each web browser is different, please consult the instructions provided by your web browser (typically in the “help” section). Please note that you may need to take additional steps to refuse or disable Local Shared Objects and similar technologies. For example, Local Shared Objects can be controlled through the instructions on Adobe’s Setting Manager page. If you choose to refuse, disable, or delete these technologies, some of the functionality of the Sites may no longer be available to you.

California residents are entitled once a year, free of charge, to request and obtain certain information regarding our disclosure, if any, of certain categories of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes in the preceding calendar year. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

Some of the Sites may contain links to content maintained by third parties that we do not control. These third parties may use this information to display advertisements on our Sites and elsewhere online tailored to your interests, preferences, and characteristics. Some third parties collect information about users of our Sites to provide interest-based advertising on our Sites and elsewhere, including across browsers and devices. XI. CHILDREN

We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 without parental consent, unless permitted by law. If we learn that a child under the age of 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it in accordance with applicable law.

X. CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we update the Policy, we will revise the “Effective Date” date above and post the new Privacy Policy. We recommend that you review the Privacy Policy each time you visit the Sites to stay informed of our privacy practices.
