A shipboard fire is one of the greatest dangers sailors can face, especially when serving on a submarine. Students learn firefighting techniques such as basic hose handling, using aqueous film forming foam and using potassium bicarbonate and carbon dioxide fire extinguishers during training evolutions as part of Basic Enlisted Submarine School at Naval Submarine Base New London, Conn.
