Veterans of the military have traveled to North Dakota to join a protest opposing the construction of an oil pipeline. An estimated 2,000 veterans plan to arrive over the weekend as members of the Veterans Stand for Standing Rock groups. But another group of veterans in the state are asking them not to partake in the protest. In a letter drafted by the North Dakota Veterans Coordinating Council, president Russ Stabler stated their presence will only create more tension, increasing the burden on law enforcement.
