The only thing more explosive (and funner) than the guns being fired was actor R. Lee Ermey, who spent the first day of the 2011 Shot Show at Glock’s pistol range.

An unashamed Glock enthusiast, “The Gunny” said he touts the weapons because “I don’t have to lie about the product. Glock is the best gun on the market. They are the simplest to operate and they don’t break.”

Ermey said he owns everything handgun the company has. But don’t think about stealing them … he keeps a .45 GAP on his nightstand, so all you’ll get is some lead between the eyes.

His favorite is the new 10mm, which he plans to take bear hunting in the near future.

“It’s not just a handgun. That thing is an artillery piece,” he said. “It is a serious gun, and man I love it. You want to knock down steel plates? No problem with this thing. It will take the target out of the damn stand.”

As for the cancellation of his much beloved “Mail Call,” Ermey called it like it is.

“I loved the show, but the History Channel said they wanted to do something a little less expensive,” he said. “So I hope you enjoy ‘Ice Road Truckers,’ because that’s what you get instead.”
