Marine Tagen Schmidt was injured at Camp Pendleton, California, in an amphibious assault vehicle fire.
Fifteen service members were injured Sept. 13 when their Marine AAV caught fire, Corps officials said. In a now-viral Facebook video, Schmidt’s platoon showed up at the hospital to promote him to lance corporal. Watch the emotional ceremony below:
So emotional and amazing....Tagen Schmidt got promoted to Lance Corporal.....it is rare that our family got to witness the pinning ceremony.....and for these Marines to come to the hospital and present him with this honor was awesome. I feel very fortunate and blessed to have been a part of it all!! So proud of this kid.....his spirit and his strength ❤🇺🇸❤👊
