Here's the first look at Mayflower Research and Consulting's new Split Front UW Gen V Chest Rig. The design was originally conceived to accommodate the SR25/M110 based sniper, but line units can benefit from the split front design with the use of spacers to accommodate smaller caliber magazines. The expansion to Mayflower's chest rig line will be released this week at SHOT Show.

A customized version of the Mayflower split front was vetted through use, and victory, by the US Army 5th Special Forces Group's sniper team at the recent USASOC sniper competition.

The rig was designed to open up and lay the pouches at the shooters sides, allowing the shooter to prone-out comfortably for a long time without inhibiting access to stowed gear.

The asymmetrical outer pocket layout reflects the gear a sniper or unit's designated marksman is more likely to carry; Krestrel, PDA, laser rangefinder and either a single pistol mag or a multitool.

The split front is also more convenient for guys working in cold environments or mountainous terrain; areas that have men constantly layering up and down over the course of a mission or movement. Mayflower added an additional front strap to be used in place of the zipper when closing the chest rig over a puffy layer. The strap is secured with a G-Hook and coarse, fast adjustment is made by pulling the strap to snug the rig over snivel gear.
