Daniel Defense had a crop of updates to their black rifle lineup, but the most newsworthy is the introduction of their 5.56 Mk12 featuring an 18" Cold Hammer Forged stainless 1:7 twist barrel optimized for the 77gr ammo, Geissele SSA two-stage trigger, and topped off with a BCM Gunfighter Charging Handle. The gun was outfitted with Daniel Defense's brand new AR furniture as seen below. The buttstock, grip and vertical fore end grip all feature overmolded rubber gripping surfaces that offered excellent traction on the range today.

The DD buttstock is a straightforward adjustable design that is compatible with replacement buttpads that can be added to fine tune the stock's length of pull. The pistol grip has a built in oversize trigger guard and bottom cap that will provide some storage. The grip felt a little slender for my medium sized hands, but the grip angle felt right. While the grip might not be to everyone's taste, it's a heck of a lot better than the standard A2 grip it replaces. As far as the fore end grip, if you liked DD's original, you'll be fine with the updated version.

Daniel Defense plans to offer the new AR furniture for sale once production meets the demand for their complete rifles. The DD MK12 is shipping to dealers now with an MSRP of $2199.
