German manufacturer Korth is known for extremely precise and extremely expensive handguns; when I saw that they had a 1911 pattern handgun at Media Day, I had to try it out.
In short, it's a roller locked 1911 priced at $3000, offering multiple barrel lengths up to 8" with relatively simple barrel swaps. Because it's roller locked, the barrel is fixed in position, potentially increasing accuracy.
I found the handgun to be incredibly accurate, but it started failing to go into battery after nearly every shot with Winchester White Box 230gr FMJ, which was the only ammunition available at the Korth booth. Hopefully production samples won't exhibit this problem.
As someone who appreciates craftsmanship, the Korth appeals to me, but as a practical firearms owner, I doubt I'd ever buy one. Still, it was a very cool pistol, and I'm glad that I stopped to check it out.
