Whether used for PT or as an approved alternative to combat boots during missions, Salomon's light hiking boots and trail running shoes have become a popular choice among the uniformed light and fast crowd. Their appeal transcended Salomon's fun and fruity colorways with users even dyeing their Salomon's with more subdued colors so they would pass muster.
Now, Salomon has released a new line of footwear that focuses on the tactical market. The line is called Salomon Forces and is comprised of tactical versions of the most popular shoes worn by law enforcement and military personnel. The major differences between the commercial line and Forces include new non Gore-Tex versions that work well in arid environments, closed lacing systems for fast roping and free fall operations, subdued colors, camo paterns and non-reflective materials.
At this time, the line is priced from $140 to $240 and, so far, includes the Speedcross 3, XA Pro 3D, XA Pro 3D MID and Quest4D; each of the shoes (except the Speedcross) will be available with Gore-Tex for a $20-$30 premium. No doubt, Salomon will be adding more shoes to the Forces line up. Look at US Elite for more details and retail pricing on the footwear.
