Keenan Reynolds, the former Navy Midshipman whose record-setting performances at quarterback led the Mids to four straight wins over Army and four bowl games, has been signed by the Washington Redskins to the team’s practice squad.

Reynolds graduated from the Naval Academy in 2016. He was drafted in the sixth round that year by the Baltimore Ravens after then-Navy Secretary Ray Mabus approved an alteration to Reynolds’ service commitment that allowed the QB to become a reservist instead of going on active duty.

The Ravens moved Reynolds to wide receiver and put him on their practice squad in 2016, meaning he wasn’t eligible to play in games; he was released before the start of this season.

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said Reynolds could be a future asset to the team’s kick-return game, per a Redskins.com report.

Reynolds holds NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision records for most career rushing touchdowns (88) and most rushing yards for a quarterback (4,559). His 4-0 record over Army West Point came at the conclusion of Navy’s 14-game rivalry win streak.

The Defense Department announced in May that service-academy graduates no longer would be allowed to defer or alter their active-duty commitments to pursue pro sports.
