Service members and families overseas will be able to watch the New York City Ballet's production of "George Balanchine's 'The Nutcracker'"on Christmas Day on the American Forces Network, according to officials with the Lincoln Center.
The Lincoln Center is bringing the production to the televisions of troops from Afghanistan to Germany, the Philippines and Japan, as well as on Navy ships outside U.S. waters. It will be seen in about 175 countries and U.S. territories. Check local listings.
The production was released this month by Lincoln Center as a part of its new series "Lincoln Center at the Movies: Great American Dance," shown in more than 600 movie theaters in the U.S.
"It's a privilege to make this beautiful work of art, which embodies the joy of the holidays, available to our courageous service men and women and their families who are so far from home," said Jed Bernstein, president of Lincoln Center, in a statement. "All of us at Lincoln Center share in the hope for their safety and the wish for peace."
