A U.S. Army helicopter checks the area near Combat Outpost Bari Alai after firing air-to-ground missiles into a cave during an extended  attack by anti-Afghan forces in eastern Afghanistan's Kunar province, April 10. The event started when an estimated 30 anti-Afghan personnel fired on a dismounted patrol near Nishigam village, wounding three, and attacked the outpost. The base received small arms and heavy machine gun fire from the surrounding territory. Afghan National Army and International Security Assistance Forces suppressed the attackers with direct and indirect fire, as well as bombs, throughout the afternoon. Several anti-Afghan personnel are believed to have died during the assault. (Photo by U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Gary A. Witte, 300th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment)
