The service hopes having two B-21s at Edwards Air Force Base will allow it to begin testing the bomber's weapons integration and critical mission systems. The move comes as Ellsworth Air Force Base prepares for the arrival of the new B-21 Raider. The B-21 Raider has so far avoided ballooning costs, said Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Allvin. The Air Force is rethinking its approach to air dominance, which Northrop Grumman thinks could show whether more B-21s are in the cards. Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, and Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, will be the second and third bases to receive the U.S. Air Force's newest bomber. The Pentagon said the "mature" plans for producing the Northrop Grumman-made bomber also contributed to its decision to move forward with production. The B-21 flew to the California location in November 2023 and has since carried out an undisclosed number of test flights. A new report says the U.S. Air Force's B-21 Raider could help ensure stability in the Asia-Pacific region. The first B-21 flight came nearly a year after its highly publicized December 2022 debut in California. It's the first new American bomber aircraft in more than 30 years, and almost every aspect of the program is classified. By Tara Copp, AP
