The Navy is testing out a program to embark therapy dogs aboard aircraft carriers and amphibious assault ships. Delbert D. Black's three-month deployment tested a new Navy concept of cycling out a carrier strike group's destroyers during deployment. A similar reorganization will take place before October at the West Coast-based 1st Supply Battalion. The detachment is the first active duty pilot training unit at Maxwell since 1945.
