The Pentagon is ending the deployment of all but 250 National Guard troops that were originally sent to LA in response to immigration protests.
The decision to pull back the Marines comes after half of the National Guard troops were ordered to leave the city last week.
The 2,000 National Guardsmen account for nearly half of the soldiers sent to the city to deal with protests over Trump's immigration crackdown.
The commander in charge of the troops in LA asked the Defense Secretary if 200 of those forces could be returned to wildfire fighting duty.
