Despite an August order for the U.S. Navy to return to steam catapults on its newest carriers, the service appears to be sticking with electromagnetics.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal said he received 75 pages of documents from two whistleblowers that include “powerful evidence that complaints of unsafe conditions were either disregarded or dismissed.”
Billed as the first of a new generation of floating American airfields, the carrier was slated for delivery in 2015, but was not turned over to the Navy and christened until 2017.
