Ares Armor has a new 2 point adjustable sling on the market, and we grabbed one to kick around and give our thoughts.  The capabilities of adjustable 2 point slings have made just about every other tactical sling obsolete in my opinion.  While there are certain needs for other slings, the adjustable 2 point can do almost everything, and a well made one can do them quite well.  The name "Amentum" is taken from the Greeks, and is the leather strap used on a javelin.  The Amentum increased the velocity, accuracy, and distance of the javelin.  With the Amentum making a leap forward for Roman troops, this sling had better be good to live up to its name sake.

A two point sling gives security and stability to a weapon.  Anyone who has gone through basic rifle training is familiar with wrapping their sling for better accuracy.  However, anyone who has shot in and out of armor, moved into unusual positions, or switched to firing from their support side is aware that a sling which doesn't adjust is going to have problems.  When you want your sling to be tight, you want it tight, but when you need move around, that tight sling is causing you grief.  When 2 point adjustable slings started coming out, it didn't take most shooters long to figure out that a better mousetrap had been built.

Slings have become more and more polished, and that brings us to our Husky Amentum Slider Sling.  This sling is built from tubular webbing, which gives high strength, and also gives the slider nice smooth movement.  Speaking of sliders, the loop used to tighten or loosen the sling is very obvious.  For guys wearing gloves, or are wet, cold, injured, or under high stress, the large loop provides an easy surface to grasp and manipulate.  We had several people try the sling out, and as easy as the sling was to adjust, it was mentioned more as an after thought than anything else.  What was commented on most was the padding of the sling.  The Husky Amentum Slider Sling has a  nylon outer shell on the padding for durability, and an interior that is made of a heavy mesh for better breathing and moisture absorption (think of being loaded up and in southern Iraq in June).

At some point, the guys who hit doors for a living usually start to have their eyes glaze over when it comes to talk about slings, especially when you mention a 2 point sling.  Speaking from experience, when I hit a door I want the most flexible sling possible, and I don't want to worry about a sling while I'm going into a crawl space, attic or other places I get stuck searching and clearing.  This brings out the pros of the single point sling.  The Husky Amentum Slider Sling can be configured as a single point sling also as you can see in the below pictures.  More importantly, it can be used as an adjustable single point sling so you can adjust to your load, or tighten it up if you are suddenly searching people or working with documents and don't need a sling bouncing around.  Going a step further, you can use HK style snap hooks, and go back and forth from adjustable 2 point to adjustable single point.  Options with this sling are almost endless, and none of them require a 4 hour course on how to use it.

This sling has a suggested retail price of just under $46, which is more affordable than other padded adjustable 2 point slings that I've seen.  Check out the below video from Ares Armor, or go to their website for additional information.
