Every once in awhile something comes along that is so simple and perfect, you wonder why you weren't building it yourself. Enter Solar Tactical with their MFER. MFER stands for Magazine Funnel Enhanced Reload, but it may as well stand for "MFer that is fast", because it really does make that much of a difference.
The guys at Solar Tactical knocked it out of the park with this one for a few reasons. First, its affordable at $37. I know most AK guys are cheap as the day is long, and most of us still dream of $150 AK parts kits and decent AKs for under $300, but those days aren't coming back. Second, and idiot could install this thing, its as simple as pushing the lip into place, then spreading the rear around the trigger guard and attaching the screws. Third, it flat out works. The funnel isn't a gaping sinkhole, but it is large enough that it makes a substantial difference in getting that mag into place. Deep in my cold black heart, I'm a M4 guy as its what I carry for a living, so my test for this piece was pretty simple. Being as I hadn't done any AK reload drills in awhile, I grabbed my AK and ran some dry drills with the AK shown below in its stock form. Then, I slapped on the MFER, and tried it again. Yeah, the difference really is there, and when speed counts, I'm down for getting every fraction of a second I can.
