Also looking good at Outdoor Retailers: GoMotion's newest light vest.

I got a quick look at the prototype, tentatively named the SL150. The pack has all of GoMotion's well-known attributes in a very slim and light-weight vest. More details after the jump ...

The vest rides high on your back, with a front-mounted sternum light and criss-cross bungee storage on the back. The lower pocket on the back contains the vest's AA-battery power source with room for other small items like a phone or keys. The battery box's pair of red LED tail lights will always turn on when the light is on, but have their own dedicated off switch. Leave 'em on though, it'll increase your visibility, and your mama won't worry so much.

The light is GoMotion's standard high-output 100 lumen LED light. It swivels 110 degrees, so it'll always point ahead where you want whether you're on foot or on a bike. Also, focus the light into a narrow 5-foot beam or into a large 20-foot flood light. No more running in a tiny cone of light, this'll make your night-running world seem four times larger. The green LED warning light (between the on/off and rear flash controls) will change to red when battery power is at 10 percent. This will give you a kick in the head to drop your light down a power level -- there are three -- before it runs completely out of juice.

The nice folks at GoMotion are sending us a sample to test for you all. Most of all I'm looking forward to leaving my flashlight at home and having my hands free, as well as the increased depth perception that comes with not wearing a light so close to your eyes. And the fact that bugs won't be swarming my face in the summer doesn't hurt a bit either. Check back in a few weeks for a full review.

Estimated retail is $150 $69 and GoMotion is planning for a June ship date.
