The Air Force is planning to receive five EA-37B Compass Call electronic-warfare aircraft in 2025 as it moves forward with plans to retire its predecessor.
The Pentagon has awarded L3Harris Technologies a $40 million contract to send Ukraine “Vampire” counter-drone systems by mid-year, the company announced.
The U.S. is aiming to send Ukraine the “Vampire” counter-drone system by mid-2023, with a contract award expected within months, a Pentagon spokesman said.
The arrangement is part of the Army’s Multi-Domain Sensing System program, a basket of tech the service believes will modernize its intelligence gathering.
“We were trying to look at our own past experiences and understand what made it work,” L3Harris' Luke Savoie said of the design process for the AT-802U Sky Warden, U.S. Special Operations Command's new Armed Overwatch plane.
The goal is to field the core system as rapidly as possible, as the global supply chain for critical subsystems like cables and connectors remains backlogged across sectors since the start of the pandemic.
