Amid waves of Iranian drone attacks, the U.S. Defense Department is pushing to finally field high-energy laser weapons in the next 36 months.

The agreement comes after the deployment of lasers led the FAA to suddenly close airspace in Texas twice in the last month.
The force has named satellites and ground systems after mythological creatures, ghosts and Norse pantheon, to name a few.
The system, when mounted on utility vehicles, is light enough to travel inside of a Chinook helicopter or sling-loaded under a Black Hawk helicopter.
