The U.S. military in recent weeks took contracting actions favoring Lockheed Martin worth $179 million. The moves were noncontroversial and came amid a flurry of military confirmations finalized late Thursday afternoon. The incoming chief of the service said he needs to maintain recruiting flexibility to get individuals with technical skills into the ranks. Anduril Technologies is joining the American Rheinmetall Vehicles-led team to competitively design a new vehicle for the U.S. Army. U.S. leadership was consistently caught flat-footed, failing to deliver on their perennial promise to “turn the corner” in the war. The Defense Department is moving closer to a contract for the Switchblade 600, which is still deemed a prototype. The service has no requirements for a hybrid electric capability when it comes to the optionally manned fighting vehicle, but it does have the need for a reduced logistics footprint. Soldiers completed training on the new equipment during a series of events this March. The Army may look to other force packages for deployment, or permanent stationing.
