As the force grapples with supply chain and maintenance issues, sustainment funding to fill the $14 billion gap is becoming increasingly necessary. The agreement, spanning five years to the tune of $1.7 billion, will be used to construct or renovate 8,098 beds in downtown Newport News, Virginia.
