Teams of doctors and nurses from New York and the U.S. Army have descended on Houston after the nation’s fourth-largest city sought help to deal with a surge of coronavirus cases and hospitalizations.
Approximately 160 airmen are supporting FEMA in California. But the majority of troops — roughly 580 soldiers and sailors — will be assigned to Texas, where the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has overburdened hospitals.
